Chicago Blackhawks center Dylan Strome went on WGN radio with Joe Brand and Chris Boden to reflect on the 2021-2022 Blackhawks season. Here's some of what he had to say.

Strome on if he was asked back in the beginning of the season that he would get a new career high in goals:
"I think it's funny how hockey seasons work sometimes. The year I got 20 goals the year I got traded here, you could've asked me the same thing and I probably would've told you that you're crazy..... I think that's just the way hockey goes sometimes. I'm just happy to be at this point at the season now"

Strome describing his season in his own words:
"A journey. I kinda said at the beginning of the year in training camp. It's a long season. Lots of things happen. So like I said earlier, I'm happy to be at this point where I am now. Couple games left gonna try to finish off strong. You know it's been a wild ride but some great teammates. I'm just really fortunate to be in the situation I am in, just trying to take advantage of it."

Strome on being prepared for uncertainty:
"I think a lot for sure. I think going into my last contract season two years ago, I was overthinking a lot. What I might make. How many points I need for this or goals for that. So I think going into this season, it wasn't on my mind as much as the previous time. Just kinda going in and knowing it's a long season and a lot can happen, there's lots of games to be played. And things change so fast. Whether it's trades or coaching changes or line changes, healthy scratches. So much can happen throughout the course of the season that I try not to focus on it as much. I'd be lying if I said it hasn't creeped into my mind over the last little bit as things have been going well. But I think that is just human nature. Trying to just take it a day at a time and like I said, finish out the season strong."

Strome on his interest level when it comes to playing for a rebuilding team:
"I think it can kinda go both ways. I think with what people are saying about our team next year, people were kinda saying the same thing last year. And I think we kinda open some eyes last year on what they were calling a rebuild then. I don't think we should be too quick to kind of write everything off next year. We still got a lot of good players and a lot of good pieces coming back. With some of the younger guys getting another year, hopefully our mindset is we can surprise a lot of people. I think that has to be the mindset. Of course I love it here in Chicago, and if they see me part of the long term future, I'd be happy to help along the way. But I think it'll be more than just helping along the way. I think it's gonna be a team that can make some noise this year and that people are already taking lightly so far. Like I said, we're gonna have some pieces come back and have some pieces that will have been here for longer than year. A couple of younger guys are going to find their way with the Blackhawks. I think there is a lot of optimism to look forward to here."
