New details emerge and an altercation took place between the Blackhawks and Taylor Hall
On January 24th of last week the Chicago Blackhawks were involved in a blockbuster trade that sent Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes and Martin Necas to the Colorado Avalanche.
The Blackhawks not only got a third-round pick for retaining half of Rantanen's salary but sent
Taylor Hall to the Hurricanes.
However, it came just after Taylor said that he'd like to sign an extension to stay with the Hawks a couple weeks ago.
Even though he said that, on the «32 Thoughts» podcast hosted by Elliotte Friedman, Friedman said that Hall turned down a contract extension to stay with Chicago.
Elliotte said that the motive was to play on a cup contending team, and given his age and veteran status, that isn't a surprise.
It's weird because the two stories, the one from Hall saying he wanted to stay and the other one saying that the Blackhawks gave him an offer but Taylor wasn't interested are completely different.
Hall tallied his first point with Carolina, which was an assist, on
Andrei Svechnikov's goal in Tuesday's game against the New York Rangers. The Hurricanes ended up shutting out the Rangers 4-0.
Taylor Hall in the media before Thursday's game against his former team said that he wasn't happy with the ice team he's been getting and that all the young guns had come in and taken it.
"My playing time in Chicago, for whatever reason, was not where I would have liked it to be. So I was happy to be traded, and I was happy to come to a really good team."
That could be one of the reasons why Hall ran off when he could.
The Hurricanes ended up beating the Blackhawks 3-2 on Thursday night, which had to have felt good for Hall if that really was his ideology this whole time and if he declined a contract.
Either way, he's a Hurricane now, and this whole saga is over.
