Blackhawks Bedard shockingly describes the moment the team and Taylor Hall found out he was traded

Taylor Hall was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes last night, and Connor Bedard made an emotional statement about losing a friend, and a mentor.
Since Connor Bedard arrived in Chicago, GM Kyle Davidson recognized that he needed veteran talent to help the superstar.
He'd bring in Nick Foligno and Taylor Hall through a trade with the Boston Bruins, and Hall originally was supposed to be his "official" mentor.
However, due to injuries interrupting his first season in Chicago, the responsibility fell to Nick Foligno, who has more or less adopted him as a family member.
Now, with news of the Blackhawks shipping him to Carolina, Connor Bedard is missing a friend and another mentor on the ice.
He'd make a statement to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times regarding his loss.
Based on Bedard's statement Hall was a dependable friend he counted on for tips on the ice.
We saw quite a bit of that during the 2023-2024 season before Hall was sidelined for the rest of the season in November.
It's a sad development for Bedard and company as they're down a veteran, a friend, and someone who is a reliable depth forward.
But of course, what's always missing in these trades is the human factor, which Hall himself acknowledged during a statement to the media.
"I came into this year wanting to continue being a Blackhawk for years to come," Hall said Wednesday. "I don't know if that's going to be the case anymore, but I'll leave that door open, for sure and understand it's a business and that the team's going to do what's best for them. We'll see what happens."
Now, Bedard will have Foligno and Teuvo Teravainen to depend on for tips and tricks on the ice, as Hall is headed to suit up for the Hurricanes.
In 46 games for the Blackhawks, Hall scored 15 points (6G, 9 A) and will be headed south, and to the Metropolitan Division.
