This was particularly evident during this year's draft when general manager Kyle Davidson selected Connor Bedard as the first overall pick. A tweet captured Davidson's desire to move up in the draft to select his preferred player, Oliver Moore.
However, despite his efforts, no team was willing to make a deal with him. As a result, his frustration and anxiety skyrocketed as he began to worry whether he would secure his desired player. Fortunately, just before his 19th choice, the Winnipeg Jets selected left winger Colby Barlow from Owen Sound, which brought Davidson a huge sigh of relief.
According to pundits, centerman Oliver Moore was voted the best skater in the draft, which added to Davidson's satisfaction and made his night in the first round even better. Overall, Kyle Davidson had an excellent first round this year, acquiring two talented players for the Blackhawks' prospect lineup.
With the draft behind him and the addition of veterans Taylor Hall, Corey Perry, and Nick Foligno, the Blackhawks now possess a strong veteran presence to complement the emerging young talent filtering into the lineup.
