Two Teams Combine For a 8-Asset Blockbuster Trade in The NHL

The Avalanche have acquired defenseman Ryan Lindgren, forward Jimmy Vesey, and prospect Hank Kempf's rights, sending forward Juuso Parssinen, defenseman Calvin de Haan, a former Chicago Blackhawk, and two draft picks to New York.

The picks are the better of Carolina's or New York's second-rounder and Colorado's or Vancouver's fourth-rounder this year.

Lindgren, 27, has been a steady Ranger for six seasons, though often in trade rumors, closing in on a career-high 19 points in 54 games.

Leading New York in penalty-kill time (2:42 per game) and ranking second in blocked shots (102).

Vesey, 31, is a veteran of 600+ NHL games.

After scoring 51 points over two seasons with the Rangers, he's struggled this year with six points in 31 games. Still, he'll stabilize Colorado's fourth line. He's a free agent this summer with an $800,000 cap hit.

Kempf, a 2021 seventh-rounder, is a college player currently, with seven points in 28 games outside of the NHL level.

Colorado has until August to sign him.

Parssinen, 24, heads to his third team this season after joining Colorado from Nashville in December.

He has 11 points in 37 games but shone in 2022-23 (25 points in 45 games.

De Haan, 33, a former Blackhawk, played 44 games for Colorado this year, adding seven assists. He spent three seasons with the Blackhawks.

The Rangers, four points from a playoff spot, are trying to do everything in their power to gain an upper-edge, but this move appears contradicting to the before statement.
