Fans Claiming Makar's Norris Trophy Win Was Rigged After Voting Stats Revealed..
Cale Makar, Roman Josi and Victor Hedman were the top 3 candidates for Norris Trophy for this years NHL season, the 3 are elite level defenseman who have stepped it up to a whole new level and deserved the nomination.
Cale Makar nearly doubled his most previous Calder winning season, and Roman Josi had a career best year throughout his eleven years in the national hockey league on a struggling Nashville Predators team.
Makar's creativity is like no other and he is 100% deserving of the Norris trophy for best defenseman, but Nashville fans are furious after the voting was revealed shortly after Makar was granted the trophy..
The voting above reveals that Roman Josi received 7 more votes than Makar did as the #1 defenseman.
Unfortunately despite the majority voting Josi as the #1 for Norris, Makar also received a ton of second place votes which made him have more placement points to steal the #1 ranking for the Norris trophy.
Roman Josi had 98 votes for the best defenseman and Cale Makar had 92. As weird as it seems it came down to who had the most votes in general meaning each NHL affiliate who voted wrote down a player and what placement that player should rank (1st, 2nd best or 3rd best).
Makar receiving the most for second best which lead him to his Norris trophy.
Should the NHL fix this broken voting system?
