Flames Manager Flew to Huberdeau's Hometown To Do Something Amazing For Him
If you have been following the national hockey league as of late, you may have heard of the blockbuster deal that took place in July, the biggest trade that has taken place of two 100 plus point producers since Wayne Gretzky was traded! Florida Panthers assistant captain Jonathan Huberdeau, McKenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt and a 2025 first-round draft pick was traded to the Calgary Flames in exchange for Matthew Tkachuk- a deal nobody truly expected to happen.
The Calgary Flames looked like the true winners in the blockbuster deal until it became realization that Huberdeau and Weegar are free agents in just one years time, meaning they can choose to leave Calgary if they would like to. Huberdeau stated his frustration with being traded, saying he was not made aware of the deal and the last talks he had with Florida were about a new contract to stay a Panther for good.
Well things sure took a swing when both Weegar and Huberdeau said in there first interview with the Calgary Flames that they are both opening to re-sign in Calgary, and truly believe Calgary is a amazing hockey town.
On top of that Elliot Friedman has recently reported that the Flames general manager Brad Treliving did quite thee amazing gesture for Huberdeau, he took a flight from Calgary all the way to Montreal to take Huberdeau out for a supper and to welcome him to the Flames organization and discuss future possibilities. It was stated it was a ''get to know you'' dinner, which took place in Huberdeau's hometown, Montreal.
