Flyers Officially Terminate Oskar Lindbloms Contract Just 2 Years After Beating Cancer
Tuesday July 12th the Philadelphia Flyers revealed that they will be waiving Oscar Lindblom from the team on unconditional waivers in hopes to terminate his contract. The 25 year old never got to fully develop due to him being diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that affects the bone density of one's body which typically starts from the legs up, side affects are stiffness in the bone, swelling, tendering in the bone and others.
The diagnosis of Lindblom brought the entire hockey community, friends, family and even his teams rival the Pittsburgh Penguins to show support and where #OskarStrong on there helmets as well as wearing purple Oskar strong t-shirts.
Lindblom got the ring the bell and officially announce he was cancer free!
Unfortunately the Flyers have given up on Lindblom and have announced they'll be buying him out, leaving the 25 year old without a home. The Flyers also made a statement when releasing the info on buying out Lindblom that they will be donating $100,000 to hospitals that help treat the type of cancer Lindblom fought through.
There is word that the San Jose Sharks are inquiring about Lindbloms contracts in order to get him a new home!
