Flyers Player Speaks Out on How John Tortorella Effects Him
The Philadelphia Flyers were in need of a coach this off-season after the firing of head coach Alain Vigneault, Vigneault had a good start with the franchise in his first year, but just last season the Flyers were bottom five in the NHL. The Flyers roster did not seem like a bottom-five team, many pointed fingers at the defensive core on the team and even the possibility of a coaching change being needed to spark this group of players.
The Flyers had Barry Trotz and very many high-level praised coaches available, but Trotz turned down the Flyers offer leaving them in shambles of needing a coach. John Tortorella ended up being the Flyers answer, and before the season has even started, the hard-headed ''Torts'' has stated his feelings on the Flyers current roster.
''I have major concerns about the room'' Tortorella said.
''I've spent the summer going back and forth to Philly trying to relocate there. But (I) spent some time in the office talking to players, talking to personnel, talking to (general manager) Chuck (Fletcher), all the front office, and I have major concerns about what goes on in there.''
One player who has already spent many years with John Tortorella is the Flyers newly acquired forward Cam Atkinson, who was a former Columbus Blue Jacket under the coaching staff which included ''Torts''.
Cam Atkinson was questioned on the effectiveness of Torts in Philly, and Cam Atkinson delivered a answer that should leave Flyers fans with a open-mind next time they speak about Tortorella, take a look at the interview below:
Atkinson has a great point, a coach that is always on mute and silent is not a effective coach and will not force players to be the player they should be, and will not motivate a player to give it their all.
