Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau reflected on his experiences ahead of the horrific events. Boudreau vehemently believes his life was spared that day, and one person is responsible for that fact.
"Andy Murray, well. He did; he saved my life," enthused Boudreau, during an interview, as per Postmedia.
Then head coach of the Los Angeles Kings, Andy Murray called a dinner for team the coaches. The last minute decision caused Boudreau to change his previously booked flight the next day, which ultimately resulted in the 67-year-old not boarding the plane, which kickstarted the disastrous plane crashes.
Naturally Boudreau shifted his attention to the loss of two close friends, LA Kings, then scouts - Garnet Ace' Bailey and Mark David. The scouting pair weren't required to attend Murray's coaches dinner, meaning they boarded United Airlines flight 175, and the tragedy was to follow.
«I think about Ace all the time. We were tight as thieves. He lived in Boston, he was coming up and watching our games all the time. Just like when he was as a player, he was the big protector of me. If somebody said something bad he'd go right after them and he protected me within the organization if somebody was saying we're not doing things right, he would jump to my help. And so I mean, it was a big loss for friendship. You ask anybody, he was loved by everybody,» said Boudreau.
Life happens so fast, RIP to all those who passed on that horrifying September day in 2001.
