NEWS: #Yotes veteran forward Andrew Ladd failed his physical and will go on LTIR for the final year of his contract, per Craig Morgan. The Coyotes will now receive a 2023 3rd round pick from the #Isles as part of the conditions in last summer's trade.
The pick was due to transfer if Ladd:
Does not play any professional games in 2022-23 while under contract, and
Does not retire prior to the end of 2022-23
Ladd's knee, which has been surgically repaired three times, has prevented him from playing this year. The injury "blew up" on him late last season and got worse over the summer, hence the failed physical.
Since Arizona is so far below the cap, he will likely be placed on regular IR. But he still won't play this season.
