The Montreal Canadiens announced this morning that Nick Suzuki will be out for two weeks with a lower-body injury. This is a big loss for the Canadiens as training camp begins. Suzuki is entering his first season as the Habs' new captain. A week ago, he was named the 31st captain in Canadiens history. At just 23 years old, Suzuki is an important part of Montreal's core group. Last season, he scored 61 points in 82 games, his best performance in the NHL to date.

Suzuki is not the only Montreal player joining the injured list. The team has announced that Josh Anderson is day-to-day due to an upper-body injury. Assistant captain Joel Edmundson is also out indefinitely due to a lower-body injury. Montreal center Jake Evans is also day-to-day due to an upper-body injury. Newly acquired Sean Monahan has not yet been given the green light to play.

There is no news yet on the injuries of Carey Price, Paul Byron, and Logan Mailloux. The Habs have a busy week ahead. The team will play two scrimmages at training camp on Friday, a Red vs White game on Sunday, and the first preseason game against the New Jersey Devils on Monday. With all the players missing, it's time for young players to shine and impress the Habs coaching staff. It will be interesting to see who will cause a surprise in training camp this year. The Montreal Canadiens training camp continues until opening night against the Leafs on October 12.
