Blackhawks Accidentally Leak New Captains For Next Season
Yesterday, WGN radio host Joe Brand posted a Tiktok of some Hawks players at media day. The video features Andreas Athanasiou, Seth Jones, Patrick Kane, Max Domi and Petr Mrazek doing short audio recordings for the season. All players are wearing their Hawks jerseys.
Shockingly, Seth Jones has an "A" on his jersey. Judging by this video, Seth Jones is likely to become the Hawks' third assistant captain. Last season, Patrick Kane and Connor Murphy were the two assistant captains. In the same TikTok, Kane is seen with an "A" on his jersey, confirming that he will return as an assistant captain. The Hawks are expected to make an announcement soon after this leak.
The 4th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft scored 51 points in 78 games last season. He has a contract through 2029-30 for $9.5M per season. The 27-year-old player was acquired in 2021 for Adam Boqvist, two first-round pick, and a second. I am sure the Hawks would be more than happy to have kept those picks. With those, Colombus have selected Cole Sillinger, David Jiricek and Alekso Heimosalmi.
