One thing I love, beating Detroit. Chicago had a nice gritty comeback tonight in the home opener. Pius Suter, an ex-Hawk opened up the scoring for Detroit followed by a tally by Dylan Larkin a little over a minute later. 6 minutes into the second period Andreas Athanasiou got tripped up on a breakaway and went to center ice for a penalty shot and he snipes it. Down 2-1 two ex-Hawks connect as Olli Maatta set up Dominik Kubalik to put Detroit up 3-1.
Then comes the 3rd period Philip Kurashev cuts into the lead with an absolute beauty. However the big one came a body down, shorthanded Connor Murphy popped off to tie it, as well as popped off the roof of the United Center, because as we all know, «Detroit Sucks!»
After a back and forth period of overtime, Max Domi found himself on a two on one with Patrick Kane. Shoot or pass? Neither is a bad option but Max Domi buried one far top corner to send the home crowd happy.
Chicago improves to 2-2-0, and will play Seattle on Sunday at home. 1 PM puck drop.
