On Monday night, the Chicago Blackhawks General Manager, wrote two special names on his palm before the NHL Draft Lottery.
In the palm of his hand he wrote, Willa, his 4-month-old daughter, and Emmy - the name of his daughter, he and his wife lost midway through pregnancy in 2021.
Emmy and Willa brought some good luck to Chicago, making for a very heartfelt moment.
Even if you aren't superstitious, or believe in little things like this. It is still a very emotional and heartwarming story. Sometimes the smallest things, can mean the most.
The Blackhawks GM, did not expect the Hawks to get first overall. He went into the NHL Draft Lottery expecting to walk away with the No. 4 or No. 5 pick.
In an interview prior to the draft, he talked more about the idea of rebuilding.
«We really need to do this the right way. We're going to stick to the plan and take our time with it and make sure [that], when we get to where we want to go, it was the result of a plan that was stuck to and not deviated from.»
Now with Connor Bedard in sight, the Blackhawks can really kick start this rebuild and move in the right direction.
