Now the aftermath of the season comes the time things change and what moves will be made to improve the Flames next season. One of the biggest questions will be what is going to happen with longtime Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau. As most know Johnny Hockey is set to become a free agent for the first time in his career.
That's unless Flames General Manager Brad Treliving and Johnny Gaudreau can make a deal. However many believe Gaudreau will be a free agent and will be highly coveted after coming off a 40 goal season and racking up 115 points tied for second in the entire league only Connor McDavid had more points then Johnny Hockey.
Gaudreau is 28 and reported by TSN Hockey's Insider Pierre Lebrun has been linked to multiple teams in the New Jersey area were Gaudreau grew up playing those teams believed to be interested include the New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabres, and New York Islanders. But Lebrun said don't be surprised if the New York Rangers don't take a stab at Johnny Hockey.
Lebrun also believes a new team has emerged and has the salary cap to throw big money at Gaudreau and that team is the Western Conference Seattle Kraken who have a reported $20 million dollars in cap space next season.
