It was a hell of a run for the Edmonton Oilers making it to the Western Conference Finals for the firs time since their magic run in 2006 losing to the Carolina Hurricanes in the Stanley cup final.
One of the biggest surprises was the play of Oilers forward Evander Kane, who many believed Oilers General manager Ken Holland was insane bringing Kane to a team already struggling because of his past issues in Winnipeg, Buffalo, and San Jose. Despite all of that there's no question Evander Kane had a positive impact during his short time with the team.
Infact it's arguable that if not for Kane the Oilers may not of made it this far believe it or not. Kane racked up 22 goals and 17 assists in 43 games this season for the Oilers and had a sweet playoffs racking up 17 points in in 15 playoff games before being suspended for game four after a hit from behind to Avalanche Nazem Kadri.
There's no question Edmonton GM Ken Holland would like to keep Kane in Edmonton but he won't come cheap. According to NHL Hockey insider Kevin Weekes if Holland wants Kane to remain in Edmonton the price is going to be between 7-8 Million dollars per season starting price with bonuses.
That's a big gamble with Kane's past, no doubt but Kane revealed he can play in Edmonton with Connor McDavid and put up big numbers and be a game breaker.
