"With deep sadness, we convey that Brad Maxwell is presently contending with an aggressive form of lung cancer that has spread," shared a GoFundMe post. "As a former player of the Minnesota North Stars and the current President of the MN NHL Alumni, he has graced the ice with moments of joy and thrill for countless fans. It's a tough revelation that traditional chemotherapy and radiation treatments have yielded no progress. However, we hold optimism for the innovative treatment he is currently undergoing to triumph over cancer."
Traditional treatments have shown little progress, but optimism surrounds his current innovative therapy. Maxwell's impactful career spanned ten seasons, including stints with the Minnesota North Stars, Quebec Nordiques, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and New York Rangers, amassing 368 points and 1,292 penalty minutes.
