Oh Captain, Our Captain!
Jonathan Toews (C) has been a part of the Chicago Blackhawks organization since the beginning of his NHL stint and despite the unknown future, he has had a phenomenal career.
Toews was drafted in 2006 while playing at the University of North Dakota and went 3rd overall. Right from the jump, he has worn a letter on his chest and it did not take long for the "A" to get promoted to the "C"; he has been wearing the captain's letter since 2008.
He then went on to score his first goal in the first period of his first NHL game on Oct. 10, 2007, a 2-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks.
Take a look at the historic goal yourself!
This past season, he played a total of 71 games, with 12 goals and 25 assists. with 37 points, it was unfortunately his lowest point season, however, he passed a remarkable milestone this year.
Toews played his 1,000th game on March 31st, 2022, and was celebrated at the United Center the following Sunday. Take a look at this video made to commemorate his years with the Hawks:
Despite his challenges with injuries and his future being unknown, we wish the best for our captain!
