Dickinson is on pace to have the best offensive season of his career. He has 8 goals and 12 assists through 53 games, trailing his previous career high of 22 points set with Dallas in 2018 by 2 points. With Dickinson under contract for another season with a cap hit of $2,650,000, what should the Blackhawks do with him?
The market for Dickinson isn't going to be anything spectacular. While Dickinson has been playing better this season than his numbers have shown, there are a lot of better options on the trade market, let alone the Blackhawks own roster that will garnish much better returns.
The Blackhawks will also need to ensure that they will be at the floor of the salary cap next season. With a large sum of money about to come off of the books here by next weekend, the Blackhawks will need to retain or take on as much salary as possible.
The offense next season will arguably be worse than this season if Patrick Kane decides to move on from Chicago, so Dickinson will have the opportunity to play top minutes next year. Maybe the market for Dickinson will be better next season by deadline time, but right now the value and motive just doesn't seem to be there. It seems that Dickinson will be in Chicago for at least another season.
