The Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson did everything in his power to make the Blackhawks a basement dweller team, also called Tanking.
Despite Davidson's best efforts to finish with the best odds to draft Connor Bedard 1st overall, unfortunately the Anaheim Ducks would take the cake finishing 32nd on the last day of the regular season, when the Blackhawks would beat the Penguins earlier in the week to not finish last..
However, not only did Davidson get a bunch of picks and prospects the Blackhawks General Manager has the 3rd best chance to win the Bedard lottery according to Sportsnet's Hockey Insider Chris Johnston.
The final odds for the Connor Bedard sweepstakes are set:
1. Anaheim, 25.5%
2. Columbus, 13.5%
3. Chicago, 11.5%
4. San Jose, 9.5%
5. Montreal, 8.5%
6. Arizona, 7.5%
7. Philadelphia, 6.5%
8. Washington, 6%
9. Detroit, 5%
10. St. Louis, 3.5%
11. Vancouver, 3%
In hindsight yes it would be awesome to draft a player like Connor Bedard in Chicago but right now the Blackhawks will draft in the top 5 meaning they are going to get a good player even if it's not Bedard.
