Jonathan Toews has been noticeable absent from the Blackhawks facility and has missed his 5th consecutive practice due to an illness. Toews has had his place in the lineup filled by Jason Dickinson who has found some early success with fellow line mate Patrick Kane in Toews's absence.
Toews has had some quite serious health concerns in the past when he was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome. Toews missed the 2020-2021 season in its entirety, but was able to play in 71 games the following season after recovering from the illness.
Toews's production dipped his first year back, but he has come back with a vengeance this season. Toews has been in the top percentiles for faceoff percentage and has seemed to regained his confidence on the ice both on and away from the puck.
Toews has 28 points through 46 games this season, but with his future in Chicago in question, his illness complicates the entire situation. Hopefully Toews can get healthy and return to the ice soon.
