The trade that sent Vladimir Tarasenko to the New York Rangers is a blockbuster trade, but also weighs heavily on not only the Chicago Blackhawks but Patrick Kane himself.
The New York Rangers were a front runner to make a move for Kane and reunite Artemi Panarin with him. But now that New York has traded for their winger they've been looking for, that may not be the case anymore.
Kane is 34 years old and is considered the best American born hockey player of all time. In his last year of his $10,500,000 contract, he has 9 goals and 26 assists, totaling up to 35 points in 46 games. He hasn't been living up to the expectations everyone had for him, possibly due to all the noise around him about a possible trade.
News recently came out that he had a lingering knee injury that required surgery that will put him out for the season. But, he had a choice whether to get it now or later, but of course if he got it now, he would be out for the rest of the season and not be able to be traded. The Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, and Dallas Stars have all been linked to Patrick, however it is his choice whether he wants to be traded or to stay here in the Windy City.
