Jonathan Toews, is the long time captain of the Blackhawks, but I don't need to tell you that.

What may be less known, is that Jack John, Chicago's newest defenseman, is a former member of the Colorado Avalanche.

That's right, Johnson won a Stanley Cup with Colorado just a few short months ago.

Since the Blackhawks faced the Avalanche on opening night, Johnson was able to be there for when they raised the banner.

You may have seen Johnson sitting alone on the bench during the ceremony, like in the tweet below, from Charlie Roumeliotis:

This may seem weird, but Johnson chose to sit out there alone.

After the game, Johnson shared with media that Toews offered to have the team join him, but he insisted that they get ready for the game instead.

P.S. Look at that ring!

Toews has been a captain for the Blackhawks for 15 years, and he has truly been a wonderful leader in the locker room.

We don't know how much longer he will be the captain, but we know that he will fill that role well until the day he leaves.
