It's almost funny when it comes to the Toronto Maple Leafs and rumors. When there's players available, the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fans always assume that player is heading to Toronto, this was the rumour seen over the past couple of weeks with insiders saying Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane was heading to Leafs Nation.
Then we seen the Leafs General Manager Kyle Dubas acquired St Louis Blues star Ryan O'Reilly, so this had people wondering what about Kane? Was he heading to Toronto or was that just talk? Kane was a beast for the Blackhawks helping them defeat the Leafs Sunday night, sending them a message scoring 3 goals and 1 assist in a point night.
But if you ask Kane it seems the Leafs were never really in the running to acquire him after the game saying:
"Patrick Kane didn't believe Toronto was a real possibility as a potential trade partner after Kane said, "I think there's a lot of different reports out there and not all of them are true. Gotta be careful what you listen to."
I think we're going to have to likely wait till March 3rd for Kane to be traded as he's looking not just at his best opportunity to play for the Stanley Cup, but also Kane wants to help his former team get the best return possible.
