Patrick Kane on Detroit: Not Happening
There have been rumors abound that Patrick Kane has yet to find a new team to call home for the next NHL season, as he has yet to find a new landing spot. It was rumored that there was interest in Detroit and a reunion with former Blackhawk, Alex DeBrincat, was being considered.
The thing is, it doesn't appear to be the case at all, as Kane will likely be healthy during the 2023-2024 season, which means he'll still have plenty of time during the season to assess his situation before making a final decision regarding his
future.
«Kane going to the Detroit Red Wings makes zero sense. Why in the hell would he go there? And nothing against who's there already, they have a good young team, they've got Dylan Larkin, they have good veterans obviously with David Perron, [] obviously they just got DeBrincat. They've got some pieces, but Patrick Kane is not even going to be available until after the season starts, don't you think he's gonna want to sit back and see how all the teams are doing and say okay where can I go to put myself in a situation to win another Stanley Cup?'» Sorry Redwings fans, this one isn't passing the smell test
In the Cam and Strick Podcast, they believe that the idea that Kane will sign with the Detroit Red Wings is a ridiculous thought and has nothing to do with reality.
Clearly, their opinion isn't entirely wrong, as Kane is trying to win a Stanley Cup and he would like to play on a contender, but at age 34, his chances of winning yet another Stanley Cup are diminishing with every passing season.
Despite the fact that the idea of getting back together with DeBrincat is a great idea, Kane would not be a good fit in Detroit. In addition to the rebuilding situation, he would just not be able to fit into the cap and would be nothing but a non-starter.
Is there any reason why a contender should not be considered instead?
