Seth Jones Wants to be the next Blackhawks captain
With the Chicago Blackhawks, Seth Jones has served as Alternate Captain since last season.
He stated that he would like to be captain someday, somewhere, during the NHL North American Media Tour.
Throughout his career, he's had the chance to learn from the best, such as Shea Weber, Nick Foligno, and Jonathan Toews. Toews was a significant leader in 2010, 2013, and 2015, as well as helping lead the team to three Stanley Cups.
Since this will be Jones' third season with the team, he feels he has an idea of where the organization is headed.
Moreover, after joining the Blackhawks with an 8-year, $76 million dollar deal after the trade from the Blue Jackets, he should be able to produce in multiple ways, whether it's on the ice or through leadership.
While Shea Weber was at the peak of his career in 2013 to 2016, Jones had the advantage of playing with him.
Foligno and Jones also played together in Columbus from 2015 to 2021, when they swept the Lightning.
Having been led by some of the best in the past, Jones has the experience to be a leader. Only Luke Richardson remains to choose who will lead the team after Toews.
With the Nashville Predators, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Chicago Blackhawks, Jones has 374 points (82 goals, 292 assists) in 730 NHL games. During his time with Chicago last season, he recorded 37 points (12 goals, 25 assists).
