It will be hard for NHL fans to gain the hype around one specific name that was once the most talked about topic, and that is Seattle Kraken forward Shane Wright. Aside from hockey fans' perspective, it is also a tough decision for the Seattle Kraken organization.
Last night the Seattle Kraken took on the Los Angeles Kings and head coach Dave Hakstol scratched him for the fifth game in a row, the former Flyers head coach, Hasktol also had some similar issues with his young guns when coaching in Philadelphia a few years ago. It's a tough look on the head coach as throughout eighteen games so far this season, Shane Wright has only been in the lineup for seven of those eighteen, and when he was in the lineup, he was given less then eight minutes per game, and in two of those games four minutes of ice time.
Seattle Kraken head coach Dave Hakstol commented on the decision to scratch Wright for the fifth consecutive game, and it seems very sugarcoated:
''We're really aware that playing games and getting game time is really important,'' said Hakstol on Shane Wright. ''The game time that he has gotten here has been limited, but it's been really valuable.''
NHL insider, and TSN's Darren Dreger stated that a clause may be put in place during this scenario, one that could lead to more playing time for Wright but not with the Kraken.
"It's very likely he's going to stay with the Kraken," said Dreger this week as per TSN.
"Now, here's an interesting sidebar to this story because there is a clause inside the agreement between the NHL and the CHL that allows junior-eligible players like Shane Wright to be loaned to the American Hockey League. Now, to qualify, Wright would have to be a healthy scratch in the NHL for five straight games. He can only be loaned once to the AHL and can only stay for a maximum of 14 days.
"So, I believe this is something that the Kraken are considering and they're also looking at loaning him to Canada for the World Juniors."
