Team Canada roster highlighted by 2023 1 ranked NHL Draft prospect - Connor Bedard

Hockey Canada announced their final roster for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships from Edmonton, Alberta on August ninth through to the 21st.

The roster is highlighted first and foremost by WHL Regina Pats 17-year-old superstar Connor Bedard. The 2022 tournament will be Bedard's first crack at WJHC gold, he participated in the COVID shortened tournament, showcasing his talents - but now he is ready to represent the leaf on his sweater. Bedard - the highly-touted generational talent recorded 51 goals, 49 assists for 100 points through 62 games in his second WHL season.

The managament group is led by Anaheim Ducks centre, from the OHL's Hamilton Bulldogs Mason McTavish; he has some NHL experience under his belt and plays a heavy, Western conference game - predicated on a strong stick, playing heavy and gritty - while using deft puck skills and an NHL shot to round out his game. The Ducks selected McTavish with the third overall selection in the 2021 NHL Draft. The native will wear the �C' for Canada.

Columbus Blue Jacket prospect and University of Michigan product Kent Johnson will wear one of the �A's' on his sweater, representing the leadership group - with NHL games under his belt. Through seasons, Johnson has played games, scoring goals, assists for total points, he has also played nine games with the Jackets recording zero goals, three assists for three points. Columbus selected Johnson with the fifth overall selection in the 2021 NHL Draft.

Rounding out the leadership group for the Canadians is prospect defenseman Donovan Sebrango, he is the lone defenseman to wear a letter on their jersey. Sebrango plays in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins, In 96 games with the Griffins, Sebrango has scored 11 points, one goal and 10 assists - he plays a style likened to . he was drafted 63rd overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2020 NHL Draft.
