The Montreal Canadiens and Calgary Flames Combine For a Blockbuster Trade

After breaking news was released this morning that the Calgary Flames have signed forward Nazem Kadri to a 7 year contract, question marks were drawn as it is not possible for them to acquire Kadri without being over the cap.. how will they free up cap space?

Well, the rumor surrounding Kadri to Calgary also had Sean Monahan involved, the Flames assistant captain of the team was rumored to be out the door to clear cap space so the team can take on Kadri.

That rumor became true, the Montreal Canadiens have fleeced the Calgary Flames in a trade, the Canadiens are receiving the Calgary Flames assistant captain Sean Monahan and a first round pick, for taking on Monahans contract.
