Some felt that former Blackhawks centerman Jonathan Toews and right winger Patrick Kane do something similar to return to the team that drafted them many years ago and won three Stanley Cups.
It appears those rumours are squashed as recently as Kane weighed in on whether he would return to Chicago. Kane was in the hunt for a Stanley Cup this season and gave his instructions to be moved to the New York Rangers as the Rangers looked to be a Stanley Cup favourite.
The Rangers loaded up with numerous talented players at the trade deadline which included Kane, but they didn't succeed and bumped out of the first round by an inexperienced but up-and-coming New Jersey Devils team.
As for Toews, the decision was clear from general manager Kyle Davidson the Blackhawks have decided to move on from their former captain.
During his statement, he did not offer a reason why they wanted to move away, it seems pretty clear that they want to usher in a new era starting with landing Connor Bedard who the Blackhawks now hold rights to for the first overall pick in the upcoming draft.
Times are changing rapidly in the Blackhawks organization. I will be very curious to see how this rebuilding phase will go and how the fans will respond to all these changes.
