Even though the Boston Bruins released Mitchell Miller last week, only two days after signing him to a three-year entry-level deal, the repercussions of their choice are still being felt today.

In a statement issued by the Hockey Diversity Alliance on Wednesday, Miller's victim, Isaiah Meyer-Crothers, gave his tale of the abuse he endured at Miller's hands for essentially his whole teenage life for the first time in a public setting.

Meyer-Crothers was the victim of horrendous racist and ableist bullying beginning in the first grade, as he describes in his statement. Meyer-Crothers claims Miller forced him to believe they were friends before physically attacking him or humiliating him in front of others, making him clean their lunchroom table while subjected to constant racist comments.

Meyer-Crothers also describes how Miller did not get in touch with him until the middle of October, when Miller sent him a Snapchat and Instagram direct message to apologize for his behaviour and make it clear that his apology had nothing to do with advancing his hockey career.

Meyer-Crothers said that Miller failed to offer the necessary evidence when asked to show how he has altered and learnt from his previous actions. Miller would have contacted Meyer-Crothers while the Bruins were deciding whether to offer him a contract, according to the sequence of events that led to the signing this past Friday.
