"It's been a tough road for goalie Scott Darling. After battling substance abuse problems for awhile and making his way through various amateur leagues, Darling found his way to the Chicago Blackhawks and become one of their most reliable back up goalies. During the summer of 2017 it was supposed to be Darling's big reward as he signed a big four year deal worth $16.6million. He unfortunately struggled massively with the Hurricanes and his contract was eventually bought out which led to the journey man heading to play hockey in Austria. This year the Hawks organization gave him an opportunity on a PTO with the Rockford IceHogs however that hasn't working out either. After just one game where he gave up five goals on 27 shots, Darling has been released from his PTO.
