The Detroit Red Wings hired Head Coach Todd McLellan recently, and thanks to that Patrick Kane has been positively impacted.
Former Blackhawks legend Patrick Kane has had his game significantly impacted by new Head Coach Todd McLellan.
In the last 8 games under McLellan, "Showtime" is back in Detroit, as he's scored 13 points ( 5 G, 8 A ) in the last eight games.
The Red Wings have experienced an upswing, as they have gone on a seven game winning streak under McLellan.
Could this be a sign that the Yzerplan is finally working for once?
Kane is impressed with how McLellan has managed the team.
Certainly, the approach that McLellan is taking to hockey gets Kane's creative juices flowing.
«I mean, just the part of our game that's kind of always on the hunt, always playing more towards the other team's net instead of like sitting back a little bit has been a welcome change for, for my game,» Kane acknowledged. «And not only my game, but the team in general.
«So try to keep pushing forward and like I said, keep playing aggressive. I think that's a big part of our reason for success right now.»
With McLellan's help the Wings and Kane have made significant steps forward this season.
They are now 6th in the Atlantic Division, with a record of 20-18-4 and could very well find themselves climbing the rankings from there.
Kane has found "showtime" and has played 37 games for the Wings this season, scoring 27 points in that time frame (10 G, 17 A).
Could this be another 50+ point season for Kane? If he continues to produce at the pace he's under McLellan, Kane could easily score 59 points in 2024-2025.
