"Chicago Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman took on a couple of older guys during free agency last summer and they didn't really pay off. Neither Cam Ward or Chris Kunitz really fit in or got things going during their time in Chicago. It's all but guaranteed Ward is gone as Corey Crawford seems to be healthy and Collin Delia has likely earned the backup spot. We haven't heard anything about Kunitz though who was only able to register five goals and five assists in 56 games for the Hawks. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the season left such a sour taste that Kunitz is ready to move on from his playing career. The Post-Gazette reports that Kunitz will retire from hockey and likely move on to coaching duties and has already received several offers around the NHL to become an assistant coach. Are you surprised at all at the announcement considering what you saw in Kunitz last year?
