The Chicago Blackhawks finally registered their first win of the season last night as they stopped the red hot Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton had won five in a row before they stepped on the ice at the United Center last night, but the Hawks stepped up and put an end to that streak. A lot of it had to do with Corey Crawford's impressive performance between the pipes, making 27 saves and some huge stops including shutting down Leon Draisaitl on a breakaway. Head coach Jeremy Colliton said that Crawford gives the team a huge amount of confidence and it was highlighted last night. "He looked sharp as ever. He was really good. That team has some weapons so they had some opportunities and he was there and just he's under control. It's something I've said about him before, he really gives the team confidence." The Hawks signed Vezina nominee Robin Lehner during free agency but he's only played one game so far. If the plan was to have Crawford and Lehner split time, it hasn't happened so far. "The reason I don't want to go out with it is the plan can change," Colliton said. "That's life. But both goalies are aware that we need them both, and we need them both playing at a high level. And that's part of why we manage it the way we do. We want both guys going."
