Carey Price is a legendary goalie in the NHL and retired far before his time, due to a lingering injury.

Price is such a huge part of NHL history that he set the market for NHL goalies to this day.

Price's contract with the Montreal Canadiens whose last contract with the team was $10.5 Million AAV per year, with the Habs.

That contract was 14% of the team salary cap, which NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman suspects should end up being the same percentage for Igor Shesterkin's next contract with the New York Rangers.

Friedman on Shesterkin's next contract (TJMS): "You're the one who brought up Carey Price, who is 10.5, is the key number here, if you look at when Carey Price signed that deal, percentage of the cap was 14%, I believe, if you look at 14%, it's 12-something..."

Shesterkin's performance, much like Carey Price's performances in times past, kept the Habs in games they didn't deserve to be in.

So, much like Price Shesterkin should be rewarded as such right?

This makes Shesterkin's asking price which was reported to be upwards of $12 Million AAV, not a ridiculous ask.

If it wasn't for Shesterkin, the Rangers wouldn't have made it to 6 games against the Panthers.

This goes without mentioning how good he was during the regular season.
