There has been a big start to the QMJHL draft on Friday night, as the ceremonies would start with an opening salvo to remember.

On X.com, the two teams in the QMJHL announced a major two, as the Cape Breton Eagles traded their 1st overall pick to the Quebec Remparts to start the 2024 QMJHL draft.

After the first overall pick was selected, the Quebec Remparts would select Maddox Degenais. Degnais' father, played in the NHL for the Florida Panthers, Montreal Canadiens, and New Jersey Devils, a total of 142 NHL games played during his career.

"Maddox Dagenais is the first overall pick of the 2024 #QDraft! He joins the @quebec_remparts!"

Dagenais, aged 16, tore up the OMHA U16 AAA division, playing for the Quinte Red Devils, in 35 games posting 81 points( 42 G, 39 A).

Dagenais will be a huge addition to the 2023 Memorial Cup champions and QMJHL champions. The team looks to be a contender next season and Dagenais will hopefully be the winning piece for the Remparts.
