Prior to the matchup with the Panthers, Sean Monahan, and the Gaudreau Family were present in Nationwide Arena, as the Blue Jackets paid tribute to the former forward, Johnny by raising a banner in his memory in the arena.
Sean Monahan and his wife and children were present while the team raised the banner Coldplay was playing in the background, while cheers erupted in honor of Johnny Hockey who was senselessly taken from on August 29th, 2024 by a drunk driver, along with his brother Matthew.
The Blue Jackets have gone above and beyond to make sure the Gaudreau Family has been appreciated, and this was another step to honor the memory of Johnny and his impact on hockey.
Guy himself has been a fixture at both the Blue Jackets, and Philadelphia Flyers practices helping both of the teams out as a guest.
Below you can see the video of the ceremony and the video which the Blue Jackets put together to honor Johnny Gaudreau.
His presence on the ice will be sorely missed by us all, as we have lost a major personality in the NHL. A human who has impacted our imaginations, and our love of hockey with his skills, and star qualities.
The pain of his loss has to be unbearable for the family and friends involved, and we extend our deepest condolences to the Gaudreau's.
We appreciate the fact they shared him with us in the NHL, and are richer for it.
