Phil Kessel Spotted With Equipment at Airport Heading to His Next NHL Destination
On Tuesday, the Vancouver Canucks announced that veteran forward Phil Kessel, currently without a team, will practice with the team's AHL affiliate in Abbotsford, British Columbia this week. Kessel played all 82 games with the Vegas Golden Knights last season, tallying 14 goals and 22 assists. Despite playing only four playoff games, the Knights secured their first-ever Stanley Cup, marking Kessel's third championship.
Since then, Kessel hasn't hit the ice, but Canucks GM Patrik Allvin confirmed his arrival in Vancouver, exciting fans who gathered at the local airport in hopes of catching a glimpse.
One lucky fan snapped a picture of Kessel at the baggage claim and shared it on social media, surprising many with his fit appearance despite not playing since the start of the 2023-24 season.
Joining the Canucks presents Kessel with a chance to pursue a fourth Stanley Cup and reunite with former coach Rick Tocchet, with whom he worked for two seasons in Arizona.
