potential argument for hawks to acquire Foligno as Bedard's protector
It's unfortunate that the Minnesota Wild didn't make it past the 1st round of the playoffs, but change is on the horizon.
Bill Guerin, the team's manager, is looking to make some changes, starting with moving some contracts and bringing in younger players.
One player that stands out is
Marcus Foligno, who will be a UFA in 2023-2024 and is being considered as a trade candidate by NHL Insider Michael Russo.
While Foligno's cap hit isn't expensive, it's possible that Guerin would need to retain a percentage.
The Chicago Blackhawks are in need of a checking forward with some grit, and Foligno fits the bill perfectly, just like his brother Nick he may not be a game-changer offensively, but he is a good protector.
While he may not have the same performance as he did in 2021-2022, his presence on the ice would be intimidating, especially considering the Blackhawks are considered prime candidates for
Connor Bedard.
If a power-forward isn't brought in soon, Foligno will be available and would be a valuable addition to the rebuilding process.
