Transaction: the missing piece to the Blackhawks' defensive end was just found
Mark Giordano is currently a UFA and was recently a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. His leadership was a great addition for his short time in the Leafs system, but his full potential may not have been realized for both parties.
However, Giordano's usefulness as a leader and a veteran defenseman could prove useful in Chicago.
Although the Blackhawks have Alec Martinez, on the left side Giordano could be a good 7th D for the team.
He could provide useful tips and knowledge, as a seasoned veteran who played in tougher markets like Toronto, where the microscope is on you 24/7.
However, the question is what would a contract for the Blackhawks look like? Would it be league minimum?
As the Blackhawks look to improve their overall lineup, Giordano could prove to be a pivotal piece for a team that could win in the next few years.
Would Chicago be the next place to land before retirement?
Giordano played 46 games in Toronto in 2023-2024 posting 9 points( 3 G, 6 A ) with a +10 rating.
