The Blackhawks have confirmed the fate of Sorensen within the organization in a surprise press conference on Monday.

Kyle Davidson has just confirmed the fate of Anders Sorensen's as the Chicago Blackhawks head coach, during his mid-season press conference held on Monday evening:
Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson on his evaluation of interim head coach Anders Sorensen to this point: "He's done a nice job so far. We've seen a little bit of highs and lows throughout his time with us so far at the NHL level. I think some of the habits and some of the mentality we have as a team has improved in my opinion. There's some things we still need to clean up, especially when we're playing with leads is trying to stay on that front foot and trying to keep pushing, but the fact we've been pushing and been able to generate offense earlier in the game and putting the team in a position to have to hold leads is a good thing, and holding leads later into games and getting results has been nice lately. I've really liked that. But there's still a mentality that continues to need to change and play right through the 60 minutes on the front foot rather than sitting back and trying to play a little more conservatively. But as a high level assessment, I think he's been really effective so far."

As confirmed by Friedman, Sorensen's time in Chicago is over and will be done after this season. The Blackhawks will begin a head coaching process search this off-season and undergo interviews, assuming Kyle Davidson is getting a head start at this very moment.
Plan is for Sorensen to finish this season, and a process to be conducted at that time
Sorensen, joining the Blackhawks with only a career of AHL experience, has done an impressive job compared to former head coach Luke Richardson.
But sadly for the Swede, his time is expiring.
