Trade rumors and speculation regarding the forwards future, are increasing as the Hurricanes season ended abruptly.
According to NHL Insider Elliote Friedman, Necas, wearing #88 for the Canes doesn't seem to have a future in the Canes system.
It seems likely that Necas would end up being traded by the Canes as he wants to play top-line minutes, which are no longer afforded to him anymore.
With Martin Necas' time in Carolina at an end, Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks could help skyrocket the rebuild forward, with the addition of Necas to the team.
Of course, with $33 Million in cap space, the team would have to negotiate arbitration, as he is eligible.
Necas is a great two-way forward, with the potential of being a 80 to 90-point player. While being a big-bodied 6'2 center, he is able to be shifted to the wing as well.
Necas posted 53 points (24 G, 29 A) for in 77 regular season games, while in 2022-2023 he posted a career high 82 points.
Against the Hurricanes and Islanders in the 2024 playoffs, he posted 9 points( 4 G, 5 A) in 11 games.
Necas, 25, was selected 12th overall in the 1st round during the 2017 NHL Draft.
