Blackhawks have added a female commentator to their broadcast team.
As the game of hockey continues to evolve and grow, the NHL has been adopting changes in organizations and their staff. The same goes for broadcasting, as companies like Sportsnet and NBC have begun adding female commentators to the panels and during broadcasting the games themselves.
The new team consists of Chris Vosters, who is the play-by-play broadcaster in Chicago. He has an extensive range on his resume, including the Big 10 network, Fox News, ESPN networks, NBC Sports, and Stadium. In 2022, he was named the television voice for the Blackhawks.
Caley Chelios, Chris Chelios' daughter, happens to be the new female commentator. She has been surrounded by hockey all of her life, as her father was a legend with the Blackhawks and the NHL as a whole. She was born in Chicago and played lacrosse, along with her sister Tara, at Northwestern. Her first hockey reporting gig was with the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2016-2017 season, where she added the colour commentator role to her resume.
After five years with the Lightning, she decided to step down and concentrate on her family while moving back to Chicago. During the 2021-2022 season, it was announced that she would join the Blackhawks broadcasting team.
With Connor Bedard playing tonight, the Blackhawks managed to beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-2 at the United Center. Bedard had a goal and two assists.
