Chicago Blackhawks hold the number-one odds to land the first overall pick of the draft
The Chicago Blackhawks are facing a tough situation as they struggle on the ice, currently holding the lowest position in the NHL standings with 19 points and a 9-19-1 record. In their recent games, the team has suffered three consecutive losses, being outscored 15-4, and their overall performance has been disappointing, losing seven of their last nine games (2-6-1).
At this rate, the Blackhawks are set to have the highest odds in the 2024 NHL Draft Lottery.
This would provide them with an opportunity to secure the No. 1 pick overall for the second consecutive year under the updated lottery rules. In the previous draft, they secured the top pick, selecting rookie scoring leader
Connor Bedard.
Should the Blackhawks manage to secure the top pick again in 2024, they would join the ranks of the last team to achieve consecutive No. 1 picks, which was Edmonton in 2010, 2011, and 2012. The NHL modified the lottery rules in 2022 to limit a team to only two No. 1 overall picks within a five-year span.
One notable prospect for the upcoming draft is Celebrini, an emerging talent who won't turn 18 until January 13, 2024. He already has ties with the Chicago Blackhawks organization...
In the 2022-23 season, Celebrini showcased his skills with an impressive performance for the USHL Chicago Steel, tallying 46 goals and 40 assists. It's worth noting that the Chicago Steel is a junior team now under the ownership of the Wirtz Corporation, which also owns the Blackhawks.
