Fan Escorted Out of Arena After Classless Move Mid-Game
John Tavares left the New York Islanders to join the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent five seasons ago. Despite Tavares' solid performance for the Leafs, the team has not advanced past the first round of the playoffs since his arrival, which was one of the main reasons the Leafs signed him. During a recent game between the Islanders and the Maple Leafs, an Islanders fan threw a Maple Leafs jersey, presumably with Tavares' name on it, onto the ice.
It is disappointing that fans are still fixated on Tavares' departure after five seasons, especially considering that the Islanders have gone further in the playoffs than Tavares has since his move to Toronto. It is time for fans to focus on their team's current playoff run, as the Islanders are currently holding the first wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference with 82 points. The Islanders defeated the Maple Leafs 7-2 in the game in question.
