Blackhawks 19-year old Russian rocket is lighting up the KHL
The Blackhawks may have found a great, skillful winger during the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
His name is Roman Kantserv who is playing his first full season in the KHL with the Magnitogorsk Metallurg.
In 50 games, he has 8 goals and 7 assists for 15 points, so he is still a raw talent finding his game in the KHL.
However, he has flashes of brilliance like he showed today as he helped Metallurg pull off the victory.
He would turn on the afterburners to beat two AK Bars Kazan defenders and score the game-winning goal.
All of this after stealing the puck from another AK Bars player on the boards, proving he's not afraid to get dirty.
The discussion led to Roman Kantserov, a 5-foot-9, 176-pound right winger from Russia. Kantserov was first brought to Davidson's attention by Russian scout Anatoly Semenov. Normally, the Blackhawks would send a few scouts to watch a player like Kantserov in person, but because of the restrictions on entering Russia, Davidson and his staff had to mostly rely on video. They watched a lot, and it kept confirming he was a legit high-end NHL prospect. His quick hands, creativity and speed jumped out on the offensive end. But he also showed defensive awareness and used his positive traits in the other zones.
His speed is an impressive tool he uses and it helped get Kyle Davidson's attention during the 2023 NHL Draft.
He's been touted as a winger who could be on Connor Bedard's wing eventually and this clip shows what a great player he already is!
