Some may seek to emerge from the stereotypical media interviews and phrases to create a real personality. However, the young rookie Connor Bedard seems to need some work on his personality.
In Bedard's case, he may have had a moment, that led some to believe he's not a book-smart off-ice. This could very well be the case.
A reporter asked him about his "trepidation," as he had been out for so long, about getting hit while on the ice.

The room laughed simultaneously after Bedard responded without knowing what the word meant.
Remember, Bedard was one player who skipped the college route to play in the WHL and headed straight to professional hockey in the NHL.
Sometimes it's easy to forget that 90% of these dudes have zero education beyond grade 12 https://t.co/bCnGm7vapk t o m s e n s (@TomSENS) February 16, 2024
He only has a high-school education, so it's unlikely he has heard of the word often. I'm sure he hasn't even brushed up on his English courses, since his main focus is being the 1st line center for the Chicago Blackhawks.
Although the moment is hilarious, I'm sure he pulled out his phone later to Google what the reporters were saying.
