With KHL transfers becoming a troubled topic in the NHL, with regards to Matvei Michkov and Ivan Demidov, a storm seems to be brewing in Russia.
With Ivan Demidov being the consensus 2nd overall pick, the KHL, and Ska's Roman Rotenberg have issued a warning to Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks.
With the Blackhawks having the 2nd overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, Rotenberg put the team on notice.
Demidov's Future Uncertain
According to Roman Rotenberg of the Ska St. Petersburg hockey club, that Demidov's arrival in the NHL, won't be right away.
Demidov has a year left with SKA on his contract, which means for the 2024-2025 season he will remain in the KHL.
«Rotenberg also made sure to clarify that SKA needed him for next season and that he would undoubtedly continue his development in his home country. » - Via GoNordiques
According to Rotenberg, they intend to continue his development in his home country. This could be a red flag for some NHL GMs considering how the
Ivan Fedotov situation played out.
Demidov has been described as an exemplary young personality, with a high level of compete on the ice.
Ideally, this information is another piece of key information Kyle Davidson needs to consider before he decides to draft Demidov or let him slip to #5 in the draft or lower.
